My Heart Goes For : Raagam : Vivahapriya/Sarangatharangini/Hamsanadam (carnatic)

There are many raagas with duel names (Eg: Divyabharanam/Rishipriya, Urmika/Suddha, etc). These are raagas which have same kind of lakshana. The names evolved over time by different composers. One of the most heavenly raagam is Vivahapriya.

The Arohanam and Avarohanam are:Aa: S R M P D N SAv: S N D P M R S
Bandu reeti Koolu is Sri Thyagaraja's composition in this raagam.

Also,Thanks to ilayaraja for creating beautiful compositions in this raaga.
Could site a few works like : Ever rocking Isayil Thodanguthama, Poo vaasam etc.

I remember a quote once i read

"And the night shall be filled with music,
And the cares that infest the day
Shall fold their tents like the Arabs
And as silently steal away"

How true..!! blessed are those who can sing.... and bless those enjoy it!!
Its difficult to choose one raaga, but if I'm asked to, this one stands still and my heart goes around, goes around.....

  2. Also, Sarangatarangini is not the same as vivaahapriya. It has D2 and is kalyani janyam unlike vivaahapriya and hamsanaadam that are Neethimathi janyam

  3. vivaha priya has D2, Hamsanadham in earlier days used to be sung with D3, nowadays only with N3. vivahapriya and Hamsanadham are 2 different ragams. bantu reethikoluvu is hamsanadham , Namamyaham Narayanam is in vivahapriya
